ABOUT NANCY GORDON

First love….first loss. Nancy’s journey as an animal lover began in early childhood. Her best friend was a black standard poodle named Nicky. His companionship and eventual death left a deep and lasting impact on her life. Her art is a tribute to Nicky and her other animal companions.

She began her artistic journey studying photography at Columbia College where she developed a love for photocollage. Over time, she began adding paint, paper, fabric and other materials to the work.

Her collages have been exhibited in a solo show at the AIR Studio and Gallery in Glencoe, IL. She has exhibited for many years with Evanston Made, a community group that supports local artists. Nancy currently has artwork at August House Studio and Mind’s Eye Gallery and Studio in Roscoe Village, Chicago.

As a psychotherapist, Nancy has always been interested in the use of healing imagery. She is certified in “Interactive Guided Imagery.” This is the use of the imagination or “mental pictures” to create change. She often suggests that getting a pet may be the best therapy of all.

She hopes that her animal art brings joy to others. Her work has been described as “magical” “enchanting” and “delightful”. It almost always makes people smile…… what the world needs now!
